During entry into a confined space, it is necessary to ensure that all safety measures are in place and proper procedures are being followed. This course provides training to perform a safe search of a confined space under applicable safety standards and regulations. 24 hour course.
- Course Enabling Objectives
At the completion of this course the student will:
- Review the CBP National Policy for Safe Entry into Confined Spaces
- Conduct confined space evaluation size-ups through regulatory knowledge, hazard recognition, and information gathering interviews
- Eliminate confined space hazards through forced air ventilation and other engineering control procedures
- Determine acceptable atmospheric entry conditions and utilize specific atmospheric testing/monitoring equipment (MSA Orion Multi-gas Detector)
- Select, use, and properly care for personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Select and operate basic and specialized tools/equipment (including communications equipment, lighting equipment, barriers/shields, and rescue equipment) within a confined space
- Conduct Entry Supervisor, Attendant, and Entrant duties
- Implement/recognize proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
- Conduct off-site rescue team assessment procedures
